Carisbrook is a new form of Service Integrated Housing (SIH), similar to a Retirement Village but not the same, where purpose-built housing is provided for people in later life offering innovative and diverse choices of living options delivered in conjunction with one or more types of support and care services.
Detached and co-joined residences designed for “Ageing in Place” irrespective of changes individual’s care needs have on-site support and care services including meals, personal alert/emergency call systems, medication, self-care, home nursing, allied health services, case management, counseling, domestic assistance, transport, cleaning, gardening, laundering, shopping, and leisure facilities.
Serving early retirees still in active phases of life, the project offers lifestyle opportunities and integrates sporting and recreational activities. A community centre includes pool, spa/hydrotherapy, indoor games (bowls, billiards, etc) dining, lounge, library, café, kiosk, men’s shed, bar, health services, hairdresser, kitchen, business centre, meeting room/theatrette and laundry.
Environmentally sustainable design (ESD) principles have influenced the disposition of residences on the site to provide a network of culs de sac, lineal parks which run north/south and allow each home to have excellent sun penetration, large private open spaces and view corridors.
