pierre's

Pierre’s was established in 1956. In that year three of the first espresso machines landed on Australian shores from Italy. Pierre’s purchased one of those first machines proudly creating one of Australia’s first coffee houses.

An iconic coffee house in Launceston, Pierre’s history continues unbroken from 1956 to today and forms a significant part of our collective Tasmanian memories.

The project set out to capture the essence of what the character of Pierre’s was; what was renowned as a brasserie, and how this should be grafted into a new and exciting direction for the business and new owners. The concept seeks to reflect the history of the brasserie, reinforce the french reference and create a retro-worn authenticity to the brand.

We coordinated design and branding workshops with stakeholders, kitchen / bar staff, Heritage Tasmania, Launceston City Council, and the project architects. The entire project includes the cohesive use and interpretation of the brand throughout the interior and exterior renovation including the coordination of custom designed carpet tiles used throughout the interior to reflect the brand, logo design, colour coordination, stationery, cards, menu design, website styling (for coding and technical setup by others), various items of advertising and interior and exterior signage.
