yappin' ranch

The antithesis of the 'McMansion', the Yappin’ Ranch is a compact home of 136m2, located on the banks of the Tamar River.

The building consists of 3 parts which are articulated externally:

1. The long hallway (circulation space) services all the spaces and allows future expansion along the length of the residence. This circulation zone houses all of the storage, robes and laundry along its western face, providing a barrier to the harsh western sun and an acoustic barrier to the adjacent arterial road.

2. The living and sleep zones placed along the North Eastern face allow river views and solar access.

3. The bathroom and ensuite are recessed to provide privacy and cross ventilation.
